We are pleased to announce the 2025-2026 Provincial Series Assignment Process!
The Provincial Series Assignment Process (PSAP) offers athletes a guaranteed opportunity to register for a select number of events during an advanced registration period. This helps athletes, coaches, and parents/guardians better plan and prepare for the upcoming competition season.
Based on the 2024-2025 survey results and our annual competition review, we have made some important changes to the 2025-2026 Provincial Series Assignment Process with the main goal of ensuring fairness for those who complete the survey.
What are the changes?
- The 2025-2026 Provincial Series Assignment Process Survey will be completed through SkateReg. To create your account, click here. This will be the same account that you will use to register for events. Please do not create a duplicate account if you already have one. If you require assistance with your SkateReg account, please contact the Events Team.
- There will no longer be 3 event blocks. In previous years, users were asked to identify their 1st and 2nd choice of event in the 3 event blocks: November/December, January, and February. For the 2025-2026 survey, users will be asked to rank their top 4 events based on all Provincial Series events offered in the 2025-2026 season rather than dividing the season into 3 blocks. You must rank 4 different Please note, the 2025-2026 Provincial Series Calendar is scheduled to be released by the end of May 2025.
- Information about the number of assigned events each athlete will receive will not be released until after the closing and review of the 2025-2026 PSAP survey. This decision was made in response to the increasing demand for event spots, particularly in the GTA. The goal of this change is to ensure fairness for those who complete the survey and provide more accurate information about event assignments.
- A STAR 4 & 5 freeskate declaration has been added. Athletes who are unsure whether they will compete in STAR 4 or 5 freeskate in the 2025-2026 season must complete this newly added question. Information about the STAR 1-4 Assignment Process, and procedure for STAR 4 & 5 freeskate athletes will be released at a later date.
- The 2025-2026 Provincial Series Assignment Process Survey will be released earlier than in previous years. The 2025-2026 survey will open at 10:00 AM Monday, June 16, 2025, and must be completed by 11:59 PM Monday, July 28, 2025. This change in timing will allow the behind-the-scenes work to be completed before the opening of registration for the newly added October Provincial Series event. All surveys received between the survey opening and closing dates will be treated equally; there is no advantage to submitting your survey earlier.
- Event assignments and all direct communication with survey participants will be sent via email from [email protected]. Any questions about the assignment process should be directed to this email as well.
- General questions about Skate Ontario Events should be directed to [email protected].
Event Assignments
Final decisions about the number of assigned events and categories per athlete cannot be made until after the closing and review of the 2025-2026 survey. The targeted minimum number of events that each athlete who completes the survey accurately will receive is 2 of their top 4 events, with up to 2 categories per athlete, per assigned event. This is based on historical Provincial Series Assignment Process data and predicted survey submissions for this season. The number of assigned events each athlete will receive may be subject to change if survey response volume or program capacity differs significantly from expectations.
The Provincial Series Assignment Process Survey will be communicated through the following channels:
- Sent via e-mail to all subscribers of the Skate Ontario mailing list
- Posted on Skate Ontario social media platforms including Instagram and Facebook
- Shared on the Skate Ontario Members Portal for clubs and skating schools
- Linked on the main page for the Provincial Series Assignment Process
- *NEW* Listed on the SkateReg “Events & Courses” page once the survey opens
- *NEW* Emailed directly to Ontario clubs and skating schools registered with Skate Canada
- *NEW* Emailed directly to coaches who were listed as an Attending Coach at a 24-25 season Provincial Series event.
Changes to Public Registration
For the 2025-2026 season, the plan is to waitlist all public registration pending further upgrades to the registration platform. This will enable a manual review of all requested public entries for each Provincial Series event to further ensure fairness to all athletes who wish to compete this season. This means that public registration will no longer be on a first come, first served basis, and all requested entries will be reviewed. Public registration will be available at each Provincial Series event; however, spots may be limited at popular events.
Survey Completion
Prior to completing the 2025-2026 Provincial Series Assignment Process Survey, please ensure you have the following:
- A SkateReg Account: To create your account, click here. This will be the same account that you will use to register for events. Please do not create a duplicate account if you already have one. If you require assistance with your SkateReg account, please contact [email protected].
- Your Top 4 Events: We highly recommend that you discuss with your coach prior to completing your survey. You will be required to rank your top four (4) events (you must select 4 different events). Please note, the 2025-2026 Provincial Series Calendar is scheduled to be released by the end of May 2025.
- Desired Category(ies): You will be asked to identify which category(ies) you wish to register for this season. This information is collected so that Skate Ontario can more accurately predict the number of requested entries per event. Skaters are not assigned to categories or levels, however the number of categories a skater may register for during assigned athlete registration may be restricted.
It is crucial that all users understand the importance of completing their survey as accurately as possible. The information that is collected will be used to determine the number of events and categories each skater who completes the survey is assigned to. Skaters whose surveys are missing information or completed incorrectly may not receive any event assignments, or they may receive an assignment for an event that was not selected in their survey. Please follow the directions closely when completing your survey.
A preview of the 2025-2026 PSAP Survey will be released by June 6, 2025.
