STAR 1-4 Assignment Process Update Re: Second Event Assignment
After review of all STAR 1-4 Assignment Process Surveys, we have determined that based on the first, second, and third choices selected in the submitted surveys, we cannot offer all athletes a second assignment in the STAR 1-4 Assignment Process (no athletes received a 2nd assignment). This means there will be a significant number of spots available during public registration for most events.
All public registration entries will be automatically waitlisted at the scheduled opening date/time of public registration. Athletes will be contacted via email within 72 hours of registration closing with an invitation to register if a spot becomes available.
Public registration dates and times may be found: here. Access to public registration will be on each event’s detailed event page.
Thank you,
Skate Ontario Events Team
Events Available for Selection
Only STAR 1-4 Series events from January 2026 – March 2026 are available for selection. Provincial Series events offering STAR 1-4 categories, as well STAR 1-4 Niagara & Orono are not included in the STAR 1-4 Assignment Process. Please review page 5 of the Event Registration Dates document for all advanced registration opening & closing dates.
Final information about the number of assigned events each athlete will receive will not be released until after the closing and review of the 2025-2026 STAR 1-4 Assignment Process Survey. This decision was made in response to the increasing demand for event spots, particularly in the GTA. The goal of this change is to ensure fairness for those who complete the survey, and to provide more accurate information about event assignments.
Athletes who successfully complete the STAR 1-4 Assignment Process Survey will be guaranteed a minimum of two (2) entries (i.e. freeskate and solo dance) at one (1) STAR 1-4 event. Any additional event assignments will be determined based on the results of the 2025-2026 STAR 1-4 Assignment Process Survey and communicated shortly after the survey closing date. Please note that supplementary categories (showcase, elements, and creative improv) are not included in the STAR 1-4 Assignment Process and will only be offered through public registration, space permitting.
