2026-2027 STAR 1-4 Assignment Process

The STAR 1-4 Assignment Process survey opens at 10:00 AM ET Tuesday, September 22, 2026, and must be completed by 11:59 PM Tuesday, October 20, 2026.

Final information about the number of assigned events each athlete will receive will not be released until after the closing and review of the 2026-2027 STAR 1-4 Assignment Process Survey. This decision was made in response to the increasing demand for event spots, particularly in the GTA.  The goal of this change is to ensure fairness for those who complete the survey, and to provide more accurate information about event assignments.

Athletes who successfully complete the STAR 1-4 Assignment Process Survey will be guaranteed a minimum of two (2) entries (i.e. freeskate and solo dance) at one (1) STAR 1-4 event.  Any additional event assignments will be determined based on the results of the 2026-2027 STAR 1-4 Assignment Process Survey and communicated shortly after the survey closing date.  Please note that supplementary categories (showcase, elements, and creative improv) are not included in the STAR 1-4 Assignment Process and will only be offered through public registration, space permitting.

STAR 1-4 Assignment Process Quick Facts:

  • Only STAR 1-4 Series events from January – March 2027 will be available for selection and assignment. Provincial Series events offering STAR 1-4 categories, as well as STAR 1-4 Niagara and Bowmanville are not included in the assignment process.  If you wish to register for these events, you must do so through the public registration waitlist.
  • The category selection in the survey is generalized: Freeskate, Solo Dance, or Couples Dance. You may register for the level most appropriate for you at the time of registration of your assigned event.
  • You must select 3 events in the survey. If you select fewer than 3 events, your options for assignment will be limited and you may be assigned to an event you did not select.
  • Coaches may complete the survey for their skaters; however, we highly recommend that the skater’s parent/guardian complete the survey. More information about this process can be found in the survey preview.
  • All STAR 1-4 series event public registrations will be automatically waitlisted; there will be no option to register. All waitlisted entries will be reviewed, and athletes will be invited to register directly.  This change was made to ensure fairness for all athletes who wish to participate.
