Skate Ontario’s STAR 1-5 Excellence Recognition Program

THE WAIT IS OVER! Skate Ontario’s STAR 1-5 Excellence Recognition Program is here!

After an amazing response to Skate Ontario’s CanSkate Excellence Recognition Program, the time has come to move forward and recognize clubs/skating schools who are delivering the Skate Canada STAR 1-5 program at or above the National Delivery Standards.

About STAR 1-5

The STAR 1-5 program is Skate Canada’s introduction to figure skating program and located in the “learn to train” stage of Long Term Development. The STAR 1-5 program was designed to offer skaters entering this program to be under the direction of a coach as much as possible. Coaches are expected to guide skater’s practice time on and off the ice to help develop good training habits.

STAR 1-5 Excellence Trainer Webinar’s for Skate Ontario Members

Over the past two seasons Skate Ontario’s sport team has visited over 100 clubs/skating schools observing and collecting valuable data. With this information, Skate Ontario was able to create an informative trainer webinar that will help support coaches and clubs/skating schools to deliver quality athlete centered programming. In this webinar, participants will review the requirements and delivery standards of the STAR 1-5 program, along with teaching strategies and program delivery options. Clubs are also encouraged to review the STAR 1-5 Excellence Resource Chart, linked below.

During the webinar, participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and share successful ideas with one another. Trainer webinars will start the first week of September. Registration will open next week.

Note: To join Skate Ontario’s STAR 1-5 Excellence program the club must have earned the ACHIEVED or EXCEEDED level of recognition in the CanSkate Excellence Program first.

To earn an ENGAGED level of recognition:

To earn an ACHIEVED or EXCEEDED level of recognition:
