Skate Ontario to Celebrate National Volunteer Week

National Volunteer Week is taking place this year from April 14-20, 2024 and Skate Ontario is looking forward to celebrating those who give back selflessly to our sport. We truly could not operate and develop figure skating in Ontario without these incredible individuals and want to thank each and every one of them for their contributions.

Stay tuned to the Skate Ontario website and social media channels during National Volunteer Week, where we will highlight and celebrate volunteers from across the Ontario skating community. Volunteers come in many forms, including but certainly not limited to – event volunteers, event techs, club/skating school volunteers, club/skating school presidents, board members, program assistants, officials, judges, evaluators, data specialists and the list goes on!

How can you celebrate National Volunteer Week?

You can celebrate National Volunteer Week by saying a simple ‘thank you’ to a volunteer who has impacted your skating journey. The possibilities are endless – honour them in person, on social media or you can ‘high five’ a volunteer…

What is ‘high five’ a volunteer?

Volunteers deserve to be celebrated 365 days a year! That’s why Skate Ontario has introduced ‘high five a volunteer.’ The volunteer recognized will receive a personalized email from Skate Ontario with why they were ‘high fived’ as well as receive a personalized, official certificate. They will also have the chance to be featured on the Skate Ontario website and social media channels.

Head to skateontario.org/volunteer and click the ‘High Five a Volunteer’ banner and fill out the survey and recognize an exceptional volunteer today!

Want to chat and learn more?

Skate Ontario’s Manager of Club and Skating School Services, Kate McNeil will be on site at the 2024 Skate Ontario Provincial Championships at the Cassie Campbell Community Complex in Brampton this weekend on Friday and Saturday, so be sure to stop by upstairs by the awards ceremony area and introduce yourself and receive one of our National Volunteer Week stickers.

We hope to see you there!

As a club/skating school, how can we celebrate National Volunteer Week?
