Representing Canada as Team Canada 1, NEXXICE Senior, from Burlington, Ontario, brought home the silver medal from the World Synchronized Skating Championships in Courmayeur, Italy, April 4-5, 2014.
NEXXICE moved up from 3rd place after their short program, “Midnight” (Prokofiev’s Cinderalla Waltz), to capture the silver medal with their free program skated to Leonard Bernstein’s symphonic dances from “West Side Story”.
This was NEXXICE’s third consecutive World silver medal. They have previously won a gold medal in 2009, and bronze medals in 2007 and 2008.
Next year’s World Championships will take place April 10-11 in Hamilton, Ontario. Canada has previously hosted the World Championships in 2007 (London, ON), and 2003 (Ottawa, ON).
