Skate Ontario and Champion Partner Merit Travel are co-hosting an online synchro celebration on Saturday, March 20 at 4pm ET on the Skate Ontario Facebook Page and YouTube channel.

“Merit Travel Celebrates Synchro” is the best way we can think of to meet up online and celebrate our Synchro family together. Sandra Weber, Manager, Merit Travel Toronto will be on hand and sees the event this way: “We at Merit Travel want to celebrate the many accomplishments of the synchronized skating community in Skate Ontario. Not only do they leave their hearts on the ice, but they have the solid backing of team managers, coaches and others who ensure that the skating can be the focus for any team. We are here to help you along your journey both figuratively and literally.”

You only need to have been in a rink just once at a Synchro event to know the passion and enthusiasm that defines the sport. It is the very best of athleticism, artistry and team work that makes it so exciting to watch! We are delighted to announce that we will be joined by Coach Meredith Tutching and Synchro officiating legend Joanne Shaw who will give us the inside edge. You get to bring your comments and questions and joy for the sport during the Merit Travel Celebrates Synchro event on March 20!

“Synchro skating as a sport reflects our shared values of discipline, dedication and teamwork wrapped up in talent, skill, spirit, creativity and fun. With COVID-19 responsible for so many changes in our day-to-day lives, getting together to celebrate what makes synchro skating special is a great way to remember why we love it,” said Skate Ontario Executive Director, Lisa Alexander.

Here’s how you and your team can get involved:

• Send us a video of your team’s favourite all-time performance or competition skate by March 5, 2021 at 11:59pm ET, for a chance to be randomly drawn to have your program shown during our Facebook Live broadcast. Make sure to label the name of the team, level and where/when the video was taken.

This will be a fun opportunity to get together as a Synchro community, and we will have some Synchro insiders there to take us through the selected programs. There will also be a prize draw to enter for one of 3 cool Merit Travel/Skate Ontario prize packs!

Merit Travel also wants to Celebrate your Synchro Journey. Please send us some of your favourite ‘on the road’ pictures of your team to be included in our exclusive Facebook Album.
