Job Description
Position Summary
The Winchester Skating Club is seeking a reliable and skilled Dance Partner to support StarSkate athletes in the development and execution of ice dance elements, patterns, and programs. The Dance Partner will work collaboratively with coaches and skaters to enhance performance quality, timing, edge control, and overall dance technique in alignment with Skate Canada standards. We are looking for candidates for the remainder of our Spring 2026 season and/or for our Fall/Witner 2026/2027 season.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner StarSkate athletes during scheduled sessions for ice dance practice, including pattern dances and free dance elements
- Assist skaters in developing timing, unison, posture, and edge quality
- Skate test-level dances as required for assessments and test days
- Support competition preparation, including run-throughs and performance refinement
- Maintain a professional and supportive environment for skaters of varying ages and levels
- Communicate effectively with coaches and club leadership regarding scheduling and athlete needs
- Adhere to all club policies, safety standards, and Skate Canada guidelines
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Strong skating skills with experience in ice dance (competitive or test-level experience preferred)
- Ability to confidently partner skaters at various StarSkate levels
- Good musicality, edge quality, and awareness of timing and pattern execution
- Previous experience as a dance partner is considered an asset
- Professional, reliable, and punctual
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Requirements
- Current Skate Canada membership
- Valid First Aid/CPR certification
- Police Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check
- Availability for scheduled sessions and test days

We are looking for candidates for both our May 2026 Spring skating and for our Fall/Winter 2026/2027 season. While ideally a candidate would be available for both, we are open to candidates who are available for only one or the other.
