Job Description
Regional/Provincial Coach Certified with the option to indicate interest for CanSkate and/or STARSkate Coordinator. Harness Coach (Fishing Pole) and/or Dance Partnering (asset)
Located in picturesque Prince Edward County, Ontario; the Prince Edward County Skating Club (PECSC) has been incorporated since 1991 and an established non-profit community organization providing quality skating programming since 1965 for skaters at all levels and ages at both the Lehigh arena and the Huff Estates arena. PECSC is a proud member of the CanSkate Excellence Program, and our team is committed to maintaining our ‘Excellence’ status in the delivery of our CanSkate programming.

- You are a motivated enthusiastic, dedicated, and experienced contract professional Regional or Provincial Coach who would like to be part of a unique coaching team and will demonstrate commitment for delivering engaging and effective lessons to developing skaters in a fun and positive environment by fostering their passion for skating and ensuring their development by offering comprehensive, consistent and reliable coaching across all levels while following all delivery program standards as identified by Skate Canada.
You, the successful candidate, would be playing a pivotal role in the development and success of our skaters at all levels in a team environment by providing expert coaching, guidance and support to skaters across various skill levels, with a specific focus on team coaching. Qualifications
- NCCP Regional Coach Certified status or higher with a proven track record of success.
- Registered Skate Canada Professional Coach in good standing.
- Interest in a team coaching environment.
- Excellent team-building and interpersonal skills.
- Synchro experience (asset).
- Experience in fitness training (off-ice/dry land)
- Harness Coach (Fishing Pole) and/or Dance Partnering (asset)
- NCCP PowerSkate Coach Certified (asset).
- Completion of the CanSkate Excellence Trainer Webinar
- Completion of the STAR 1-5 Excellence Trainer Webinar
- Strong technical knowledge in all aspects of figure skating, including dance, skills, jumps, spins, footwork, and choreography.
- Reliable, punctual, committed work ethic and dedicated to the success of the skaters and the club.
- Excellent communicator with good interpersonal skills, combined with organizational and leadership skills, as well as the ability to motivate and inspire skaters to reach their full potential.
- Demonstrated ability to create a positive and supportive training environment that fosters teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.
- Knowledge of competition rules and regulations set by Skate Canada.
- Provide high-level coaching to skaters across different age groups and skill levels.
- Collaborate with other coaches to create cohesive training strategies and ensure consistent coaching methods and techniques.
- Conduct on-ice and off-ice training sessions; including dance, skills, jumps, spins, footwork, choreography, and conditioning exercises.
- Analyze and assess skaters’ performances, providing constructive feedback and personalized coaching to enhance their skills and address areas for improvement.
- Develop and maintain effective communication with skaters, parents, and board members regarding training schedules, competition plans, and progress updates.
- Attend and provide coaching support during competitions.
- Remain current on rules and technical requirements for all Skate Canada disciplines.
- Stay informed with the latest updates from Skate Canada and follows all delivery program standards as identified by Skate Canada.
- Interested in continuing education in coaching.
- The coach must be a motivated, encouraging, enthusiastic and a positive role model for our skaters.
- The coach must be able to work in a team environment with other coaches, coordinators, parents, volunteers and the Board of Directors to further the goals of PECSC.
