Job Description
The Ancaster Skating Cub is a non-profit organization that provides opportunities for skaters at all levels and ages. We offer CanSkate, CanPowerSkate, and StarSkate programs, are partners with the Steel City Synchro organization and have several Adult synchronized skating teams. We operate out of Morgan Firestone Arena in Ancaster between September and mid-May and offer programming at other Hamilton facilities between mid-May and August. During September to mid-May, our programs run Saturday/Sunday mornings and Monday/Tuesday/ Thursday/Friday late afternoon/evenings. The Ancaster Skating Club was established in the 1970’s and we normally register over 600 skaters with 75-85 of them being StarSkaters.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, positive and committed Regional Certified Coach (or above) to join our collaborative coaching team in September 2024. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to create a positive and supportive training environment that fosters teamwork and sportsmanship. They enjoy working with children, teens and adults and will play a crucial role in the development of skaters at all levels. They will be expected to provide comprehensive, consistent and reliable coaching on both CanSkate and StarSkate.
Qualifications
The Applicant must be:
- Skate Canada NCCP Regional Certified Coach or higher in good standing, meeting all current Skate Canada requirements and with a minimum of 5 years of coaching experience at a Regional Certified level or above.
- Committed to yearly continuing education.
- Experienced in coaching the STAR 1 – Gold Programs in all disciplines, but particularly in freeskate and/or dance.
- Reliable with a committed work ethic, and able to work evenings and weekends.
- Comfortable to working in a team environment.
- An excellent communicator with good interpersonal skills.
A post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field and experience in fitness training (off-ice/dry land) are assets. Candidates must be able to commit to a minimum of 2-3 weeknights and 1 weekend day, with additional flexibility to backfill on the remaining weeknights and weekend day, and to attend competitions.
