Job Description
The Kitchener-Waterloo Skating Club is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Support Coach with a strong background in the STAR test stream—particularly in Dance and Skills. The successful candidate will coach both group and private lessons, assist skaters across various stages of development including adult skaters, offer clear feedback, and help foster a positive, collaborative, and professional training environment.
Availability for a minimum of 3 evenings per week, as well as weekends (Saturday and Sunday), is required.
Compensation:
- This position offers a consistent flow of work, with opportunities to earn income through private lessons, which will be billed directly to the individual skaters.
- Coaches will also be compensated for their involvement in club programs such as CanSkate and other group lessons, all paid by the club.
- Hourly rate is based on certification and experience.
Qualifications
- Prior experience as a figure skating coach or competitive skater, with a Novice or higher competitive level or Gold Test achievements in Ice Dance, Skills, and Free Skate preferred.
- Coaching certification (NCCP Regional Certified or higher) required.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Availability for a minimum of 3 evenings per week, as well as Saturday and Sunday.
- Skate Canada coach in Good Standing.
