Job Description
Centennial Park Skating Club (CPSC) is a well-established and respected skating club in West Etobicoke that has proudly served the community since 1974. We provide high-quality skating programs that support athletes of all ages and abilities, from first-time skaters to those progressing through Gold STARSkate.
At CPSC, we are committed to helping skaters achieve their personal goals while promoting confidence, skill development, and lifelong participation in sport. Our programs range from PreCanSkate through Gold STARSkate, providing a strong developmental pathway for athletes.
We pride ourselves on maintaining a collaborative, professional, and inclusive club culture. CPSC is dedicated to creating an environment where skaters, coaches, and families feel welcomed, respected, and supported. Our coaching team plays a vital role in fostering a positive atmosphere where skaters can develop their potential and strive for personal excellence.
Due to significant growth in our STARSkate program over the past two years, we are seeking a motivated and experienced coach to join our established coaching team and contribute to the continued development and success of our athletes.
Qualifications
Qulifications
- NCCP Provicial Coach-in-training or higher
- Registered Skate Canada coach in good standing
- Minimum 5 years of STARskate coaching experience (strong asset)
- Experience coaching freeskate, dance, and skills from STAR 1 through Gold
- Experience conducting STAR 1-5 assessments, skill assessor (STAR 1 to Gold) considered an asset
- Ability to provide a copy of their Skate Canada Coach Dashboard
Key Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively within a professional coaching team that values respect, communication, and shared success
- Serve as a base coach for STARskaters, guiding their technical and personal development through private, semi-private and group instruction
- Oversee PA scheduling, development, training and communication
- Design and implement training programs aligned with Skate Canada’s CanSkate Excellence and STARSkate standards
- Monitor skater progress and provide construction feedback to support continued development
- Attend competition with skaters and provide coaching support during events
- Coach both CanSkate and STARskate programs
- Follow Skate Canada program delivery standards and best practices
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and motivating training environment
- Support club initiatives and events that contribute to the overall skating community
Skills
- Ability to motivate, inspire, and develop athletes at various stages of their skating journey
- Strong communication, organization and interpersonal skills
- Detailed-oriented with a professional and positive coaching approach
- Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with coaches, board members, technical leadership and parents
- Expereince as a CanSkate Coordinator is considered an asset
