The Kitchener Waterloo Skating Club (KWSC) is located in the twin cities of KitchenerWaterloo, with our home facility at the Carolyn Fedy Skating Centre, RIM Park. With over 3,000 members, KWSC is one of Canada’s largest skating clubs. From preschoolers to adults, we have taught thousands to skate through our nationally accredited CanSkate and PowerSkate programs. We also operate competitive programs that have sent singles skaters, dance pairs, freeskate pairs, and synchronized skating teams to compete in the Canadian Championships and international competitions. Objective of this job: KWSC is looking for a highly motivated and passionate Assistant Instructor of Strength and Conditioning to join our team! You will be responsible for implementing the Strength and Conditioning programming for KWSC skaters. As a KWSC instructor your work will include training sessions with athletes of varying skill sets in group fitness classes. This is a chance to contribute to youth development and athletic performance in a community-focused organization.
Responsibilities:
Work with the Skating Club’s Strength and Conditioning Lead to deliver:
• tailored strength and conditioning programs for each level of skater, ensuring alignment with the strategies developed by the Strength and Conditioning Lead
• Fitness testing for figure skaters 2-3x annually
• Regular communication with the Manager Athletics, Strength and Conditioning Lead, athletes, parents and coaches regarding the health and fitness needs of KWSC athletes. Emphasize the enhancement of athlete performance Monitor and adapt training methods to meet individual athlete needs
Qualifications
- Undergraduate Degree in Sport Performance, Kinesiology (or in progress)
- CSCS) Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist, Certified Exercise Physiologist (or equivalent)
- First Aid/CPR Certification
- Current Police Check
- Experience working with youth athletes is an asset
- Knowledge of figure skating is an asset
- Technical background and practical experience in a competitive environment is an asset
- Previous experience instructing in a group/team-based environment is an asset.

• Competency with all aspects of strength and conditioning, program development, and session delivery.

Hours of Work: Part-time role working between 3-4 hours/day for 2 days a week
