Job Description
The Norwich & District Skating Club is currently seeking an enthusiastic and organized Regional Coach In-Training or higher to lead our coaching team as a HEAD Club Coach. We are looking for a coach who is passionate about skating, a strong leader who is able to collaborate with other coaches, and is eager to work with ALL of our skaters of all ages and skill levels—from PreCanSkate/CanSkate to all stages of STARSkate. The ideal candidate is a team player with strong communication skills who is able to commit to helping our programs grow within the best practice standards of Skate Ontario and Skate Canada.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee the delivery of all skating sessions
- Stay up to date with current SkateOntario and SkateCanada guidelines and ensure they are being upheld
- Provide on-session leadership and ensure program quality and safety
- Supervise and support a team of CanSkate coaches with a focus on working as a team
- Clear communication with both coaching team and skating board
- Ensure alignment with Skate Canada’s CanSkate standards and guidelines
- Maintain skater records and organize end-of-season assessments and administrative duties
- Plan fun days and special events
- Represent coaching team as skating club board member
Our programming runs Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings and Saturday mornings from now to end of March. We are currently recognized with CanSkate Excellence and Star 1-5 Excellence by Skate Ontario.
Qualifications
- NCCP CanSkate Coach Certified (minimum)
- In Good Standing with Skate Canada
- Previous experience in leadership or coordination is strongly preferred
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Reliable, proactive, and team-oriented
