Job Description

The Kitchener Waterloo Skating Club (KWSC) is located in the twin cities of Kitchener-Waterloo, with our home facility at the Carolyn Fedy Skating Centre, RIM Park. With over 4,000 members, KWSC is Canada’s largest skating club. KWSC delivers a wide range of skating and athletic development programs, including figure skating, CanSkate, Twin City Hockey Skating School Power Skating, and high-performance training through The Athletic Centre and The Rotation Room KW. The club also operates seasonal programs such as summer camps and March Break camps, and hosts numerous events throughout the year including Freeskate Festival, Simulation Days, Ice Show, Skate Ontario competitions, awards events, seminars, and athlete development initiatives.

KWSC serves athletes, families, coaches, officials, and volunteers within a large, engaged community and is recognized for its positive culture and commitment to excellence.


Job Summary

With approximately 70 employees, plus independent contractors, the Club is in need of a Human Resources professional to coordinate employment policies and practices while supporting Supervisors in recruiting and retaining talent. The Club has some ambitious strategic goals and needs a leader to work with the staff team to realize these goals. 

Position Details

  • Job Title: Human Resources Coordinator
  • Type: Part-time; hybrid
  • Category: Fixed-Term Contract (1 year contract, with potential for extension)
  • Hours: Part-time at approximately 20 hours per week
  • Schedule: Flexible schedule with occasional evenings and weekends required
  • Reports To: Executive Director

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with recruitment, interview processes, reference checks, and offer letters.
  • Assist Supervisors with onboarding.
  • Maintain and update job descriptions, performance appraisal tools, and contracts.
  • Oversee the planning and coordination of employee engagement, relations and recognition.
  • Maintain accurate employee information in HR systems and ensure documentation is up-to-date and confidential.
  • Administer HR policies and procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to all workplace occupational health and safety requirements, as well as employment standards and other employment-related legislation.
  • Act as a point of contact for employees, responding to HR-related questions and providing guidance on policies and procedures
