Job Description
Skate Canada Shelburne is looking for CanSkate coaches to join our team. Our season runs from late September to March, with CanSkate programs on Monday and Wednesday evenings. We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated coaches who are able to create a positive and fun learning environment for our skaters in the CanSkate program. Coaches must also be willing to work in a collaborative team environment.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver CanSkate lessons by following the Skate Canada CanSkate program guidelines
- Create a positive, encouraging, and fun learning environment for our skaters
- Assess skater’s progress and provide individualized feedback
- Participate actively in all group lessons, leading when required, providing support through technique correction of skaters during other times
- Help skaters remain focused on tasks through positive reinforcement and motivation
- Keep records of lessons delivered
- Willing to be an active coach with Skate Canada Shelburne off ice events
Qualifications
- CanSkate Coach In Training qualifications or higher
- Be a registered Skate Canada coach in Good Standing, which includes the following:
- Valid First Aid certificate
- Agreed to Skate Canada Code of Ethics
- Completed the Respect in Sport Training
- Ability to connect with young children on their level
- Ability to work collaboratively with the team
