Job Description
Skaters First has been dedicated to providing quality CanSkate programs to the community of Aurora and surrounding areas for 31 years. Skaters First is a well established Skating School; we offer CanSkate and Intro to Figure Skating programs from September to June, supporting skaters in a safe and fun environment to learn and grow.
Our CanSkate Programs run from September through to June.
Mondays (2 sessions) 4:30 pm- 6:00 pm
Wednesday (3 sessions) 5:00 pm -7:15 pm
Saturdays (3 sessions) 9:15 am- 11:30 am
Each session is 45 minutes and coaches will teach the entire session time.
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our team as a CanSkate Coach. You will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective skating lessons to beginner-level skaters, fostering their passion for skating, and ensuring their development in a positive and inclusive environment.
Responsibilities:
Conduct CanSkate lessons following the Skate Canada CanSkate program guidelines.
Create a positive and inclusive learning environment for all skaters, promoting a love for skating and fostering their growth and development.
Provide individualized attention and feedback to each skater to ensure proper skill progression.
Assess skaters’ progress and track their achievements through regular evaluations.
Qualifications
Registered: To be a Registered Skate Canada Professional Coach, full payment is required of all registration fees and insurance premiums as determined annually by Skate Canada.
In Good Standing: To be a Registered Skate Canada Professional Coach in Good Standing, the following is required:

Minimum Skate Canada CanSkate Coach in Training or higher
·
In good standing with Skate Canada, including current first aid and screenings.
·
Strong knowledge of the Skate Canada CanSkate program and its principles.
·
Experience working with children and beginners in a skating or coaching capacity.
·
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire young skaters.
·
Reliable, punctual, and dedicated to the success of the skaters and the club.
