Job Description
Join Our Team: CanSkate Director Position
The Flamboro Skating Club (FSC) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic CanSkate Director to lead and enhance our Skate Canada-approved programs. This role is pivotal in ensuring a seamless progression for skaters into our STARSkate program, fostering a positive and inclusive environment for all participants.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Management:
- Planning:
- Collaborate with the Club Administrator, Board of Directors and Program Director on seasonal planning and execution.
- Develop coaching schedules for CanSkate sessions, ensuring equitable opportunities for all coaches based on availability and program needs.
- Pre-Session Preparation:
- Coordinate the procurement of teaching aids and supplies in consultation with the coaching team.
- Organize skater groupings adhering to Skate Canada ratios, prepare nametags, and other necessary tasks to run the session
- Manage the inventory of Skate Canada badges and ribbons.
- Session Delivery:
- Attend all CanSkate sessions to supervise and ensure smooth operations and that the programming meets the CanSkate Excellence requirements at all times.
- Oversee regular skater assessments, maintain progress records, and input data into Uplifter.
- Organize special theme days and monitor distribution of badges and ribbons, providing updates to parents.
- Conduct parent information sessions during the early weeks of each program session and be the first point of contact for CanSkate parent inquiries.
- Post-Session:
- Ensure report cards are issued to all program skaters at the end of each session.
- Provide feedback and evaluations to Program Assistants twice per season.
Leadership:
- Determine coaching and Program Assistant needs based on registration.
- Deliver Program Assistant training at the start of each season and provide ongoing development and feedback.
- Schedule Program Assistants for sessions and assign specific duties.
- Ensure coaching absences are covered and lead session setup/takedown activities.
- Offer suggestions for program improvements to the Board throughout the season.
- Provide feedback to coaches
- Oversee the organization and planning of CanSkate participants for events such as Ice shows.
Collaboration:
- Provide regular updates to the FSC Board and address parent queries and concerns.
- Identify and recommend skaters for the GroupSTAR Program.
- Prepare monthly coaching team tracking sheets for invoice reconciliation.
- Track Program Assistant hours for credit or volunteer hours and submit reports to the Club Administrator.
- Respond to emails regarding CanSkate programs.
- Work with the Club Administrator and Board to plan and execute club events, including Performance Days and Year-End Shows.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Dynamic and motivated individual with strong organizational skills.
- Excellent customer service skills with a passion for working with people.
- Experience with Skate Canada programs.
- Flexible schedule with the ability to work evenings and weekends.
- NCCP Regional Coach certified or higher.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience coaching CanSkate programs.
- Registered and in good standing with Skate Canada.
- Proficient with Word, Excel, and knowledge of Uplifter.
