In wrapping up the 2024/2025 Skate Canada Challenge event from Winnipeg, there was a lot more going on than just the results. Fifty-seven Skate Ontario skaters registered to represent the section and themselves in all eight of the Challenge categories to great success. Friendships were made and renewed and experience became an important teacher.
“Skate Canada Challenge is an important milestone for athlete development, offering skaters the chance to compete against skating talent from across the country, Said Chris Mabee, Skate Ontario Podium Pathway Manager. “For some, it’s a steppingstone to Nationals while for others, it’s a valuable opportunity to gain experience and grow in a competitive environment. Events like this are where future champions are shaped, and we’re proud of what the Ontario athletes were able to accomplish this week in Winnipeg. On to Laval, QC!”
