The Minden Skating Club is dedicated to providing the community and surrounding area with an opportunity to develop a variety of disciplines and ability levels in skating. It serves approximately 100 skaters each season and has continued to grow since 1950. Our coaching staff has successfully facilitated almost 20 skaters in the completion of a gold-level representing each of the four disciplines of skating: Dance, Interpretive, Free Skate and Skills. These coaches have combined qualifications that include National Level 3 in Freeskate and Provincial Level 2 in Synchronized Skating. As a club, throughout the years we have offered skater development days that include special guests. Perhaps most notable was Kurt Browning visited. In 2015 our club/arena hosted Kurt, Tess Virtue, Scott Moir, Patrick Chan, Joannie Rochette, Jeffery Buttle, Megan Duhamel, Eric Radford, Kaitlyn Weaver, Andrew Poje, Ashley Wagner and Shawn Sawyer as they rehearsed for the 25th Anniversary Tour of Stars on Ice. We always look forward to wrapping up our season with a Carnival on the weekend before Easter to showcase our skater skills and development throughout the year.
Our programs have historically run on Monday and/or Friday for CANskaters and Monday, Wednesday and/or Friday for STAR Program skaters.
