Challenge Breakthrough Performance Award – Madeline Schizas (Milton SC)

The 2020-2021 Challenge Breakthrough Performance Award goes to Madeline Schizas from the Milton Skating Club!

This year Skate Ontario was excited to launch a brand new type of award – one that is voted on by peers! The Challenge Breakthrough Performance Award was open for voting to all of the Ontario skaters who competed at Challenge hubs this year. This award was designed for the individual/team who had an exceptional, memorable or outstanding performance at the 2021 Skate Canada Challenge given the fact that COVID-19 has significantly reduced training this season. Their performance demonstrated strong technical and performance skills, examples of personal triumph and courage and overall excellence for the level of competition.

The Senior Women champion at that event, Madeline Schizas had the most peer votes for her long program to win this award. When notified that she won the award, she said “Wow! That’s great news. Very exciting to be recognized by my peers.”

From all of us at Skate Ontario, congratulations to Madeline for winning the Challenge Breakthrough Award as part of the 2020-2021 Skate Ontario Recognition Awards!
