Beverley Connery

Skate Ontario is saddened by the news that Beverley Connery passed away on April 8, 2020. Beverley was a long time coach at Nepean Skating Club.

Her obituary:

Peacefully on Wednesday, April 8, 2020. Loving wife of Bruce. Cherished mother of Scott. Dear cousin to Marilyn Decary and Carol Ouellette of Montreal and their families. She will be missed by her many friends, neighbours and former colleagues. She was born in Montreal to the late Wilfrid (Wilf) and Gertrude (Gert) (nee Hemmings) Murray. She began figure skating at the Verdun Arena, she furthered her training at Minto S C in Ottawa. She was devoted figure skating coach in Brockville, Smiths Falls, Kingston, and Alexandria Bay, NY. She moved to Ottawa and coached for the Nepean FS Club at Nepean Sportsplex and Walter Baker Centre. She coached the Junior Ladies’ Champion of Canada and the Novice Men’s Champion of Canada. She was Awarded Canadian Figure Skating Association’s Coach of the year in 2000. Her many students have contributed to the skating community by becoming International and Olympic skating judges and high- level skating coaches. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Aphasia Centre of Ottawa would be appreciated by the family. Cremation has taken place, A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
