Our Canada Winter Games athletes have just returned from a wonderfully successful event. On the ice, they did what they went to do, but off the ice it was an entirely new experience. Travelling as a team, staying together and working with team coaches is something most of them have not experienced to date.
Laurene Collin-Knoblauch, Skate Ontario’s Team Manager was in Red Deer and asked members of the Skate Ontario Team for their thoughts:
Lily Wilberforce – Pre-Novice Pair, “I enjoyed the CWG as you always felt supported by all the other team mates. When we were competing on the ice, we didn’t feel alone. Even if you didn’t do your best, you didn’t feels alone”.
Daniel Patriquin – Pre-Novice Dance, “I felt like I was living the dream”.
Owen Brawley – Novice Pair, “It was really cool to feel the sense of a team and to build new friendships”.
Eric Millar – Novice Dance, “It was fun to interact with the different sports”.
Sydney Embro – Novice Dance, “It was an amazing experience to travel and meet new people”.
Aidan Wright – Pre-Novice Pair, “It felt like a dream. It was cool to meet people from different Provinces and to meet new people”.
Gabriella Gui – Novice Women, “I really enjoyed the spirit and the atmosphere of the event. It was really inspiring”.
Rio Morita – Novice Men, “It was a fun experience being in a team atmosphere and cheering each other on”.
We want to congratulate all of the athletes who represented Ontario at Canada Winter Games. We are #SkateOntarioProud
