CanSkate Excellence Recognition Program – How it Works

Skate Ontario wants to offer the best skating programs in the country! CanSkate is Skate Canada’s official Learn To Skate program and The Skate Ontario CanSkate Excellence Recognition Program recognizes Clubs/Skating schools that are delivering the CanSkate program at or above the national delivery standards set by Skate Canada. To Join start with having one or more of your coaching team sign up for The CanSkate Excellence interactive trainer webinar where one of our CanSkate Specialists will review the National Delivery Standards and available resources as well as offer growth strategies.

To earn an ENGAGED Level of Recognition	To earn an ACHIEVED or EXCEEDED Level of Recognition
Have one coach attend a CanSkate Excellence Trainer Webinar. Complete the commitment survey. Pay the application fee of $70 + HST. The Registration portal can be found below.	Must have earned the ENGAGED level of recognition. Complete the checklist and application via SkateReg. You will need to submit a detailed session plan including; Session format, ice layout, session timing and lesson schedule. Approval of application and session evaluation. 1. A CanSkate Specialist will visit your cub and assess the program. 2. Submit a video. The video will include a complete and unedited CanSkate session. Skate Ontario will determine the type of evaluation. Clubs/Skating Schools will receive a written evaluation with feedback. Clubs/skating schools Achieving or Exceeding Excellence will receive the Skate Ontario CanSkate Excellence Promotional kit which includes new fundamental station signs, Challenge Zone cards and pocket organizer and a CanSkate Excellence banner to hang in their rink.

Clubs/Skating Schools who are actively engaged in earning their CanSkate Excellence status will be recognized beside their club’s name in the club directory and “Find a Club” tool on the Skate Ontario website.
