Building Skaters for Life

At its core, NDSC is committed to introducing people to the joy of skating and inspiring a lifelong connection to the sport.

Whether skaters dream of competing in figure skating, playing hockey, joining a synchronized skating team or simply enjoying recreational skating with friends and family, the club provides the foundation they need to succeed.

NDSC offers Pre-CanSkate, CanSkate, STARSkate and Synchro programs, creating opportunities for participants of all ages and abilities. The club’s commitment to excellence has been recognized through its “Exceeded” designation for the delivery of its CanSkate program.

A Legacy of Excellence

Over the years, NDSC has helped develop countless athletes and community members through the sport of skating.

The club is proud to have been home to several Provincial Champions, as well as skaters who have gone on to compete at both the national and international levels. Many former members have achieved multiple Skate Canada Gold Tests, while others have returned to the sport as coaches, continuing the club’s tradition of excellence and mentorship.

NDSC’s impact reaches far beyond figure skating. Numerous former skaters have gone on to excel in high-level hockey, building on the strong skating fundamentals they developed through the club’s CanSkate program.

Driven by Dedicated Coaches and Volunteers

Behind every successful skating club is a team of passionate individuals, and NDSC is no exception.

The club’s coaches bring enthusiasm, experience and an unwavering commitment to athlete development. They continually seek opportunities to expand their knowledge, refine their coaching practices and enhance programming to ensure skaters receive the best possible experience.

Equally important are the club’s dedicated volunteers. Their efforts help keep the organization running smoothly, communications flowing and families feeling connected and supported. Whether organizing events, supporting programs or finding new ways to strengthen the club, their contributions are instrumental to NDSC’s success.

Together, the coaches and volunteers create an environment where skaters can learn, grow and achieve their goals both on and off the ice.

Creating Memories Through Community

One of the club’s proudest traditions has been its long history of community-focused ice shows.

Over the decades, NDSC has hosted countless performances that have showcased the talents of its skaters while bringing the entire community together. Local firefighters, OPP officers and other community members have joined the fun, helping create memorable experiences that extended well beyond the rink.

In the mid-2000s, the club even produced its own version of the popular television show Battle of the Blades, pairing local hockey personalities with skaters for a unique community event. The shows proved so successful that they attracted the attention of the CBC, leading to an invitation for NDSC to participate in a televised “Mini-Blades” feature.

These events not only highlighted the club’s creativity and community spirit but also reinforced the important role skating plays within the Napanee area.

Looking Ahead

Today, NDSC continues to serve as an important part of the Napanee community, providing opportunities for skaters of all ages and abilities to discover the many benefits of being on the ice.

With a rich history behind it and a bright future ahead, the Napanee & District Skating Club remains committed to its mission of encouraging skating for life.
