Job Description
The Lindsay Skating Club is seeking an enthusiastic and qualified CanSkate Coach to deliver Skate Canada’s learn-to-skate program. This role involves fostering a fun, engaging, and safe learning environment while providing high-quality instruction to skaters of all ages and abilities.
CanSkate is designed to develop fundamental skating skills through a progressive curriculum that emphasizes balance, control, and agility. The coach will play an important role in helping skaters build confidence, achieve personal milestones, and progress at their own pace. A passion for coaching, a commitment to athlete development, and a dedication to creating a positive, inclusive, and supportive on-ice experience are essential to the role.
Job Type: Contract (self-employed coach)
Contract Term: September 2026 – March 2027 (ongoing opportunities available)
Compensation: Club session rates (typical range $36-$54/hour depending on certification and experience).
Schedule: Evening and/or weekends. 2-8 hours per week. Flexible based on coaching assignments and skater demand.
Key Responsibilities:

Teach fundamental skating skills: balance, control, and agility;

Lead group lessons that emphasize movement, participation, and fun using circuits, music, and teaching aids;

Track progress through Skate Canada stages and badges;

Work collaboratively with program assistants;

Ensure a positive and inclusive environment for all participants.
Qualifications

Skate Canada NCCP CanSkate Coach (in Training or higher);

In good standing with Skate Canada;

Passion for working with children and beginner skaters of all ages;

Strong communication and coaching skills.
