Skate Ontario is proud to recognize Barbara Jackson of the Whitby Figure Skating Club as the 2026 Adult Skater of the Year, celebrating her dedication, passion, and ongoing commitment to figure skating.
Skating since she was eight years old, Barbara’s love for the sport and determination to continue learning and growing on the ice exemplify the spirit of adult skating in Ontario. Through hard work, perseverance, and a positive attitude, Barbara has overcome injury and shown that skating is truly a lifelong journey — one built on personal achievement, confidence, and joy.
Barbara’s enthusiasm and commitment serve as a powerful reminder that it is never too late to pursue new goals and challenge yourself on the ice.
When asked what brought her back to the rink as an adult, Barbara told Skate Ontario, “I have the most wonderful skating community around me that has been so supportive and helpful, and we just have a wonderful time at the rink… My husband was a skater so it is really our world. It’s been a wonderful life thanks to skating,.”
Congratulations, Barbara, on being named the 2026 Skate Ontario Adult Skater of the Year — we celebrate your achievements and thank you for being such a positive ambassador for adult skating in Ontario. Watch our full interview with Barbara here:
