The 2026 Skate Ontario Provincial Championships are bringing the provincial series to an exciting and well-earned conclusion, showcasing the depth, scale, and continued growth of figure skating across Ontario. The event is being held March 20–22 in Hamilton and serves as the final stop in a season-long journey for athletes competing across the province.
This year’s championships reflect remarkable participation and reach. A total of 97 clubs is represented, highlighting the strong geographic diversity within the skating community. Across 50 categories, skaters will demonstrate excellence in singles, dance, artistic, and synchronized skating, reinforcing the breadth of development opportunities within the Skate Ontario system.

In total, 790 skaters are taking part in the championships, including 20 synchronized skating teams, underscoring the continued growth of synchro as a key discipline. All these athletes advanced through a structured pathway built on consistency and performance throughout the season. The Provincial Championships mark the culmination of a 16-event Provincial Series, designed to provide meaningful competitive opportunities and a clear qualification system for athletes.
Beyond provincials, the broader 2025–2026 calendar featured 43 Skate Ontario events, illustrating the organization’s commitment to delivering accessible, high-quality competitions at every level of the sport. This extensive schedule not only supports athlete development but also strengthens club engagement and community involvement across the province.
The atmosphere throughout the competition is defined by both achievement and sportsmanship, with athletes delivering personal bests and memorable performances in a high-energy environment. From emerging young skaters to experienced competitors, the event will capture the spirit of progression that defines the provincial system.

“This championship is a powerful reflection of the strength of skating in Ontario,” said Lisa Alexander, Executive Director of Skate Ontario. “With nearly 800 skaters representing 97 clubs, we are seeing firsthand the impact of a well-structured competitive pathway. The dedication of our athletes, coaches, officials, and volunteers continues to elevate the standard of our sport across the province.”
As the season concludes, the 2026 Provincial Championships stand as both a celebration of achievement and a benchmark for future growth. With increasing participation, a robust event calendar, and a strong development pipeline, Skate Ontario continues to build a foundation that supports excellence at every stage of the athlete journey.
