Sectional Series Event Calendar Update – Adjustments for the 2026-2027 season

Skate Ontario is committed to providing meaningful and sustainable opportunities for athletes, coaches, officials, and the entire skating community.

The Sectional Series is designed to offer meaningful competitive opportunities for Ontario athletes in the Podium Pathway. Athletes competing in this series can qualify for the Sectional Championships in Pre-Novice, Novice, Junior and Senior categories, a key qualifying event for those aiming to compete at Skate Canada Challenge, Nationals and Skate Canada Trophy.

Given the recent shifts in Skate Canada’s domestic event calendar, which now allow Podium Pathway skaters more training time during the summer, along with the annual June timeline for ISU rule changes and Skate Ontario’s operational considerations, we have made the decision to discontinue the July Sectional Series event and introduce a September Sectional Series event starting in 2026.

Beginning with the 2026-2027 season, the Sectional Series event calendar will run from August through December, with five events.

New Additional Performance Opportunities for Podium Pathway Athletes

In July 2026, Skate Ontario will introduce a new performance opportunity for Podium Pathway athletes. This initiative will allow athletes to perform for officials and receive timely, constructive feedback through a performance hub across Ontario — strengthening the connection between athletes, coaches, and officials. Details about this new opportunity will be shared later this spring.

We look forward to welcoming our athletes, coaches, officials, and supporters to this new July performance opportunity in July and the September Sectionals Series event.
