February 24, 2024 – What an incredible first two days of skating at the 2024 Novice Canadian Championships / 2024 Skate Canada Cup! We are beyond proud of every athlete that stepped on the ice to represent Ontario with such pride this week. The first four events of this competition; Ice Dance, Pairs, Women and Men have now wrapped up. You can find our re-cap of each event below:

Ice Dance

Five incredible young ice dance teams took to the ice to represent Ontario in this competition. Lilla Horvat and Bryce Aggerholm of Kitchener Waterloo Skating Club achieved their all-time personal best score following their crowd-pleasing beauty and the beast free program to finish 7th place.

Another home-town team, Mackenzie Lockston and Philip Czarnecki of Kitchener Waterloo Skating Club skated three solid skates to finish in 11th place. Madison Tong and Gabriel Liu of Skate Canada Brampton-Chinguacousy finished their first ever national championship in twelfth place overall.

After three beautiful skates, Olivia Corneil and Alexandre Emery of the Ice Academy of Montreal – Ontario Campus took home ninth place.

After a beautiful free dance and an incredibly close race for the bronze medal, Rachel Martins and Juel Kowalczyk of Mariposa School of Skating finished in fourth place, with only a fraction of a point separating them from the medal slot. This team has accomplished an incredible amount in only seven months together, and we are looking forward to seeing what they accomplish in the future.
