Seeking Coaches
Schomberg Skating Club is a small community club located 40 minutes north of Toronto in King Township, Ontario. We are seeking a CanSkate Coach and a Power Coach for the 2020/21 skating season. We offer classes for 5-6 hours per week on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings from September to June at the Trisan Centre in Schomberg. We are a small club that has been growing exponentially over the last 5 years, with potential for more growth, particularly in our STAR and Power programs with the possibility of more ice time in 2020/21. We are seeking coaches with the motivation and passion to help us continue to grow and offer high quality instruction for our skaters. We offer PreCanSkate and CanSkate programs as well as STAR and Power programs. There is the possibility to join our coaching team for our Spring season beginning in April.

CanSkate Coach
Our ideal candidate will be an experienced and motivated professional with a love for skating and a strong ability to communicate with children, parents, colleagues, and board members. The coach will have proven leadership and organizational skills and a passion to continue to improve and grow our programs.

  • CanSkate Trained (Certified preferred)
  • In Good Standing
  • Able to evaluate skaters and complete report cards as needed
  • Able to group skaters and complete CanSkate admin tasks as needed
  • Offer group lessons Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with parents, skaters, board members and other coaches
  • Positive role model and team player who is fun and outgoing with a love of teaching
  • Excellent communication skills

Power Coach
Our ideal candidate will have experience coaching the Power program and be able to motivate and challenge skaters with a hockey focus. Our Power coaches have the opportunity to work with our local hockey association to develop their skating skills at the start of hockey season.

  • Power Trained (Certified preferred, CanSkate certified also an asset)
  • In Good Standing
  • Able to evaluate skaters and complete report cards as needed
  • Offer group lessons Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings, and possibly at other times as determined by the local hockey association
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with parents, skaters, board members and coaches
  • Positive role model and team player who is fun and outgoing with a love of teaching
  • Excellent communication skills
