Thank you to everyone who attended our Town Hall on Monday evening discussing the next steps in Return to Play. We were able to provide some exciting updates and we were fortunate enough to be joined by Tracey Wainman, Tracy Wilson and Brian Orser who have recently had some of their skaters return to the ice and offered some valuable advice to coaches and skaters. Since the Town Hall, we have updated our Return to Play Protocols. Highlights of the updates include:
- Effective June 10, 2020: Competitive Skate – Pre-Novice, Novice, Junior and Senior – Singles, Pairs and Ice Dance. STARSkate – STAR 5 to Gold, Pre-Juvenile, Juvenile and Adult – Singles, Pairs and Ice Dance. SYS in Novice, Intermediate, Open, Adult, Junior and Senior.
- Please note, CanSkate, CanPowerSkate, STAR 1-4 and SYS athletes outside of the levels listed above should not be skating at this time.
- Special Olympics programming will not begin before June 30, 2020. Further information about this will be communicated by Special Olympics Ontario.
- No Assessment Days will be scheduled before August 15th.
- Skate Canada coaches may resume teaching lessons to hockey players, provided they have a current Skate Canada membership.
- Limitation on size of training groups: Follow current Ontario Provincial guidelines regarding gathering restrictions. Currently, until 11:59pm June 11, 2020 no more than 5 people are permitted in a gathering. As of 12:01am June 12, 2020 no more than 10 people are permitted in a gathering.

Please note – the Daily Health Screening Questionnaire and Session Participation and Health Screening Tracking Template have also been updated as of June 10, 2020.
Finally, we have also created an information sheet for coaches/skaters/parents – Training Plan: Return to the Ice. This document includes some helpful tips and resources to consider before and after returning to the ice. Skaters have been off the ice for an extended period of time so adequate preparation for returning to skating along with a slow and gradual return to the ice is very important.
