Once again, the crowds of Lausanne 2020 did not disappoint; greeting the pair skaters with abundant enthusiasm as they took the ice on Sunday for their free skate. This was no exception for Skate Ontario pair Brooke McIntosh and Brandon Toste who finished a season’s best performance to a rousing round of applause and cheers.
The team’s performance was strong enough to move them from their fifth-place finish in the short program to fourth overall.
In other Canadian skating news, BC’s Aleksa Rakic showed equally strong talent in the men’s free and finished just off the podium, also in fourth place.
Skate Canada President, Leanna Caron, views the Youth Olympic Games as an event with great importance. “The Winter Youth Olympic Games is an extremely important step for Skate Canada’s skaters as it is preparation in the short term for the World Junior Championships as well as for the skaters’ future in the sport.”
Competition continues on Monday with the Ice Dance and Women’s free competitions and then the team event will take place on Wednesday.
