Silver Blades Skating Club has an immediate need for a CanSkate/Preliminary Coordinator for the 2022/23 season

Silver Blades SC is a volunteer-run club that provides skating opportunities for skaters at all levels and ages. We offer CanSkate, STAR and Adult programming from September through May. We are looking for a Coordinator for our CanSkate and Preliminary (Canskate 6 to Star 2) sessions.

Working closely and in cooperation with the Silver Blades Board of Directors, the CanSkate/Preliminary Coordinator is responsible for overseeing overseeing the delivery of these programs, ensuring that they meet the club’s needs while aligning to Skate Canada’s program delivery guidelines. This position requires approximately 10 hours per week of on-ice supervision.  The position also involves approximately 10 hours per week of off-ice duties that may include:

  • Working with admin to set-up and monitor CanSkate and Preliminary registration including flagging anomalies and assigning groups as registration is completed
  • Assigning session Coaches and PA’s to groups
  • PA training
  • Designing the on-ice program and music
  • Managing all materials including name tags and on ice supplies, ribbons and badges
  • Preparing and coordinating CanSkate report cards
  • Monitoring skaters progress within CanSkate groups and distributing ribbons and badges and entering levels in uplifter
  • Conduct information sessions and be main point of contact for parent inquiries on CanSkate and preliminary sessions
  • Work with Silver Blades Board of Directors to complete the requirements for CanSkate Excellence
  • Other duties as assigned by the Silver Blades Board of Directors

We are looking for a coach that is energetic, passionate and a good communicator.  The coach should meet the following requirements:

  • Skate Canada Professional with a NCCP designation of Regional Coach Trained or higher and in good standing with Skate Canada
  • Excellent communication, customer service and interpersonal skills to be able to work closely with the club administrator, coaching team and club membership
  • Excellent leadership skills, ability to take initiative, task-oriented and integrate well in the existing team
  • Proficient with computer software including Uplifter and Excel
  • Excellent organizational skills
