The Smithers Figure Skating Club (SFSC) is a non-profit, volunteer-run sports club with over 100 members. Located in the beautiful Bulkley Valley in British Columbia, the Smithers Figure Skating Club is looking for a positive, energetic coach to run our entire skating programs for the 2021/2022 season and beyond. We have an ambitious group of talented, positive skaters. A great opportunity to take these skaters to the next level with a comprehensive training plan under your direction. The successful candidate will:
- 2-3 years coaching experience
- Trained Regional Coach or higher
- Experience in conducting off-ice classes- jump class, flexibility strength training
- CanPower certified (optional)
- Be a Skate Canada registered coach in good standing
- Provide a copy of your coach dashboard
Roles & Responsibilities:
The Head Coach/Director of Skating is responsible for all the skating programs delivered at the Club from PreCanskate, Canskate, STARskate, CompetitiveSkate & Adult Skate. Optional CanPower classes.
- Provide leadership, supervision and coordination for programs and coaching staff
- Plan, Develop and implement training schedules and programs
- Implement training tactics and practice sessions
- Coaching on all levels from Canskate to Gold Level including off-ice training
- Offer group, semi-private and private lessons
- Strategize development training for athletes and coaches
- Act as primary liaison for the Board of Directors
- Carry out Club management & administrative duties
