CanSkate/STARSkate Coaches 2019/2020 Season- Mississauga Skate Club

The Mississauga Skating Club is proud to offer quality skating instruction for all abilities and ages for 70 years.  Our season runs from September 2019-June 2020 with programming operating out of Tomken & Iceland arenas in Mississauga. We are seeking Skate Canada Professional Coaches that are in good standing and are eligible to teach CanSkate & STARSkate. Candidates must be interested in teaching in our CanSkate programs.

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Regional Coach In-Training or higher
  • Must be in Good Standing with Skate Canada. To be registered in good standing the following is required
  1. Must have a valid First Aid Certificate
  2. NCCP certified coaches must maintain a renewed NCCP certification status as per the Coaching Association of Canada’s (CAC) policies
  3. Have a agreed to Skate Canada Code of Ethics
  4. Valid Back Check. Screening must be done through the company approved by Skate Canada
  5. Completed the Respect in Sport Activity Leader Training

Interested Applicants:

  • have a love for skating, & enjoy working with children/adults
  • be interested and have a solid understanding of CanSkate programming including teaching progressions and assessment protocol
  • be trained in the new star program
  • have excellent communication skills
  • be able to work in a team environment with fellow coaching staff
  • demonstrates commitment to developing skaters in a fun, positive environment
  • be reliable & committed
