Announcement re: Increased Public Health Measures

We know that the Skate Ontario community is disappointed today to hear the government’s announcement of a return to increased public health measures due to the highly transmissible Omicron variant. These new measures include the closure of indoor facilities used for sport and recreation activities with some very limited exceptions and conditions. They start on January 5, 2022 and will be in place for at least 21 days.

Based on today’s announcement, Skate Ontario regretfully announces the following:

  • All events, assessment days and other in-person Skate Ontario programs (e.g. seminars, courses, etc.) will be cancelled up to and including January 30, 2022
  • The impact of these event cancellations on qualifying for the Skate Ontario Provincial Championships will be assessed
  • Details about refunds will follow
  • Details re: the very limited Olympic training exemption allowed in the Regulations for Step 2 will be shared directly with those impacted

While we know today’s news is very difficult, we assure you that we remain committed to offering programs and events this season when and where the public health situation and government regulations allow.
