Stephen Gogolev – ISU Junior Grand Prix Final Champion

By Skate Ontario Staff

This was not supposed to be the way that Ontario skating phenom Stephen Gogolev got to compete at the ISU Grand Prix Junior Figure Skating Final. He ended up as a last minute replacement for another skater and ended up winning the title.

Gogolev, who will turn 14 in a couple of weeks, is widely held to be one of the faces that will elevate Canadian men’s skating into the future. As talented as he is poised, Gogolev posted personal best scores in the short program segment, where he was second, and in the free program, which he won. His overall total score was also a personal best.
