Skate Ontario Sectional Qualifying Structure 2018/19

For the 2018/19 season, Skate Ontario will be using a qualifying structure for entry into the Sectional Championships. This series is for athletes competing in Pre-Novice, Novice, Junior and Senior, in the Men, Women, Pair and Ice Dance categories eligible to qualify for the Sectional Championships. Final participant numbers for each category qualifying for the Sectional Championships are noted below.

Athletes will qualify using the following criteria:

  1. Skate Ontario will be offering Sectional Series events between July 26, 2018 and October 14, 2018.  Athletes must register for the Sectional series with Skate Ontario for their Sectional Series scores to be tracked and listed in the ranking order. Registration will open on May 1, 2018 and close at 4:00pm on September 16, 2018. Please click here to access the registration form.
  2. The best overall score from each athlete will be used in the final ranking order for qualifying into the Sectional Championships. Overall score is the combined short and free program total score from the same event.
  3. Only Skate Ontario Sectional Series scores will qualify an athlete or team for a ranking position.
  4. There are no maximum number of events an athlete can enter from the Sectional Series. The best overall score will be used in the ranking order.
  5. If an athlete is assigned to a provincial travel team by Skate Ontario, the score from the selected event can be used as their Sectional Qualifying score.

Women Singles:

Senior – Maximum of 36 entries
Junior – Maximum of 36 entries
Novice – Maximum of 60 entries
Pre-Novice – Maximum of 60 entries

Men Singles:

Senior – Maximum of 36 entries
Junior – Maximum of 36 entries
Novice – Maximum of 36 entries
Pre-Novice – Maximum of 36 entries

Dance:

Senior – Maximum of 30 teams
Junior – Maximum of 30 teams
Novice – Maximum of 30 teams
Pre-Novice – Maximum of 30 teams

Pair:

Senior – Maximum of 24 teams
Junior – Maximum of 24 teams
Novice – Maximum of 24 teams
Pre-Novice – Maximum of 24 teams
