Ontario High Performance Sport Initiative 2011- 2012

NORTH BAY, Ontario, August 17 – Skate Ontario is pleased to announce the second year of a partnership with the Canadian Sport Centre, Ontario (CSCO) to provide programming designed to enhance the development of a select group of athletes who have been identified as being capable of achieving international success.

This year’s targeted athletes are:

  • Alexandra Paul & Mitchell Islam
  • Andrei Rogozine
  • Alexandra Najarro
  • Adriana Desanctis
  • MacKenzie Bent & Garrett MacKeen
  • Brittany Jones & Kurtis Gaskell
  • Katie Bobak & Ian Beharry

This program has been developed in cooperation with the CSCO and under the direction of Skate Canada, with the intention of establishing a clear developmental pathway from Provincial programming to the National Team.

Louis Stong will continue in the role of Technical Coordinator, working with the identified skaters and their coaches in developing individual training plans and monitoring their progress throughout the year.  Mr. Stong is a World and Olympic coach whose career has spanned over 40 years and includes a strong association with Skate Canada in various capacities including that of consultant. An important element of each training plan will be a focus on providing integrated support services that will be made available through the CSCO.
