Competition Qualifying Structure – 2018/2019 Season

Sectional Qualifying 

For the 2018/19 season, Skate Ontario will be using a qualifying structure for entry into the Sectional Championships. Athletes will qualify using the following criteria, with final participant numbers for each category qualifying for the Sectional Championships, published on the Skate Ontario website on or before April 1, 2018. This series is for athletes competing in Pre-Novice, Novice, Junior and Senior, in the Men, Women, Pair and Ice Dance categories eligible to qualify for the Sectional Championships.

  1. Skate Ontario will be offering four Sectional Series events between July 26-October 14, 2018.  Athletes must register for the Sectional series with Skate Ontario for their Sectional Series scores to be tracked and listed in the ranking order. Opening and closing dates for registration will be available on the Skate Ontario website, on or before April 1, 2018.
  2. The best overall score from each athlete will be used in the final ranking order for qualifying into the Sectional Championships. Overall score is the combined short and free program total score from the same event.
  3. Only Skate Ontario Sectional Series scores will qualify an athlete or team for a ranking position.
  4. There are no maximum number of events an athlete can enter from the Sectional Series. The best overall score will be used in the ranking order.
  5. If an athlete is assigned to a provincial travel team by Skate Ontario, the score from the selected event can be used as their Sectional Qualifying score.

Sectional Qualifying Example

Super Series Qualifying

For the 2018/19 season, Skate Ontario will be using a qualifying structure for entry into the Provincial  Championships held in March of 2019. Athletes will qualify using the following criteria, with final participant numbers for each category qualifying for the Provincial Championships, published on the Skate Ontario website on or before April 1, 2018. This series is for athletes competing in STAR 5, STAR 6, STAR 7, STAR 8, STAR 9, STAR 10, Gold, Triathlon, Pre-Juvenile, Juvenile, Pre-Novice, Novice, Junior and Senior in the Men, Women, Pair and Ice Dance categories.

  1. Skate Ontario will be offering seventeen Super Series events throughout the province of Ontario between October 19, 2018-March 3, 2019. Athletes must register for the Super Series with Skate Ontario for their Super Series scores to be tracked and listed in the ranking order. Opening and closing dates for registration, will be available on the Skate Ontario website, on or before April 1, 2018.
  2. All Super Series events will have a base event package that will include, STAR 5, STAR 6, STAR 7, STAR 8, STAR 9, STAR 10, Gold, Pre-Juvenile and Juvenile Men and Women categories.
  3. The best Super Series score from each athlete or team will be used in the final ranking order for qualifying into the Provincial Championships.
  4. Only Skate Ontario Super Series scores will qualify for a ranking position.
  5. There are no maximum number of events an athlete can enter from the Super Series. The best score will be used in the ranking order.
  6. Pre-Novice, Novice, Junior and Senior categories will be free program only.
Synchro Series Qualifying

For the 2018/19 season, Skate Ontario will be using a qualifying structure for entry into the Provincial  Championships held in March of 2019. Synchro teams will qualify using the following criteria, with final participant numbers for each category qualifying for the Provincial Championships, published on the Skate Ontario website on or before April 1, 2018. This series is for teams competing in Pre-Juvenile, Juvenile, Pre-Novice, Novice, Intermediate and Open categories.

  1. Skate Ontario will be offering five Synchro events throughout the province of Ontario between December 7, 2018-March 3, 2019. Teams must register for the Synchro Series with Skate Ontario for their Synchro Series scores to be tracked and listed in the ranking order. Opening and closing dates for registration, will be available on the Skate Ontario website, on or before April 1, 2018.
  2. The best Synchro Series score from any one skate will be used in the final ranking order for qualifying into the Provincial Championships.
  3. Only Skate Ontario Synchro Series scores will qualify for a ranking position.
  4. There are no maximum number of events a team can enter from the Synchro Series. The best score will be used in the ranking order.
